Sober Living Los Angeles California

Structured Transitional Living in a Recovery Home

Sober living is the peak of recovery from substance abuse. The truth is that healing may appear like a forever journey, while becoming sober needs a rehab program or essential detox. However, sober living calls for constant care and commitment.

Most times, leaving treatment centers for residential homes can jeopardize treatment. Afterward, there may be triggers that could result in mental health disorders. In most cases, it always results in relapse conditions.

Fortunately, structured sober living homes are the perfect recovery community for patients.

Sober Living in a Recovery Home

Sober living homes are housing arrangement that helps people who want to become independent. A structured environment is a place where substance abuse is impossible. More so, you can quickly rebuild the life skills you learned while in the treatment center.

Proper accommodation and care are necessities for humans. However, the patient’s environment can trigger the brain during their moments of active addiction. So, it is better to be in a sober living facility than return home. The safe and structured environment eliminates the craving for substance use. The newly sober individual is rarely prepared for all associated stressors that could activate urges, desires, and behaviors that lead to relapse.

The Harmony Place sober living home is just minutes from our residential facility. This haven house is in a quiet neighborhood in Los Angeles, Ca. It is a spacious and private place as it provides personal comfort and long-term sobriety.

Similarly, the sober living program helps individuals focus on their outpatient treatment goals and prepare them to reunite with their families and communities as sober and productive members.

Transitional Living

The Value of Structured Sober Living House Los Angeles

The beginning of your journey to wellness is in the sober living facilities. Outpatient treatment is always the foundation for building self-esteem and confidence. In contrast, transitional living is where clients live with less restriction.

This setting allows clients to use the strategies they learned, discussed, and adopted to stay sober. The recovery process can be over a year, while long-term recovery may require more time.

Patients can extend their treatment time after our 30-day residential program. The focus is to dispense maximum outpatient care to them.

This large house is for clients who have completed their residential treatment program, are ready to change, have been faithful with treatment, and are prepared to achieve long-term sobriety.

Long-Term Care

Transitional Living Within the Larger Continuum of Care

At Harmony Place Sober Living Facility, we’re proud to offer the full continuum of addiction care over a 90-day treatment period. This means clients can progress through detox and residential care into outpatient treatment and, ultimately, aftercare. Studies have shown that 90 days of addiction treatment dramatically reduces the relapse rate compared to 30-day programs.

We view transitional living as more than a transition: It’s a transformation. When transitional living is combined with outpatient treatment, it provides a significant level of stability coming out of residential treatment, yet a little more autonomy and real-world exposure. Clients can even resume some of their work or school responsibilities during this time.

LONG-TERM CARE

Leading a Sober Life Within the Larger Continuum of Care

At Harmony Place Sober Living, we’re out to provide a full continuum of addiction care, including aftercare and post-treatment alumni involvement. This care can extend over 90 days of treatment. Clients advance through detox and residential care into outpatient treatment and aftercare in this stage. Based on studies, 90 days of addiction treatment has proven to reduce the rate of relapse if compared to 30-day programs.

Transitional living is transformation. A sober home or transitional living goal is to help clients resume some of their work or school responsibilities and transition into a new life that is familiar in some ways, yet built on the solid foundation of their treatment, allowing them to live sober and healthy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Structured Transitional Living Los Angeles FAQs

If you have any additional questions about sober & transitional living and our recovery home, read through these frequently asked questions to see if we have your answer:

How do you maintain a sober environment in the transitional home?

Our transitional living managers supervise the transitional living home and are also part of the outpatient treatment team. While the structure is reduced in transitional living (compared to the residential program), oversight is not.

Of course, drugs and alcohol are not allowed in the home. Curfews are enforced, and drug tests are occasionally administered. Otherwise, clients experience much more freedom and real-world immersion than in residential treatment. We offer various sources of entertainment throughout the home, as well as a plethora of group activities and outings. This helps ward off boredom, a common relapse trigger.

We take pride in providing a safe place to make mistakes, even if the client is not yet aware of the potential pitfalls. These transitional measures are meant to gently guide the individual down the right track to recovering their life and dignity.

Not necessarily. Some clients new to Harmony Place start directly in our outpatient program and take up residence at our transitional living home in Los Angeles. This is possible when:

  • The client’s addiction isn’t severe enough to make residential treatment imperative, and/or
  • The client has completed an inpatient program elsewhere but has relapsed.

Before new clients are officially admitted into Harmony Place, we perform a screening and get to know their background before determining whether they need residential treatment and their individual treatment plan.

If you already live in the Los Angeles area and then go through our residential program, you’re not required to move into our transitional living home, but we highly, highly recommend it. There were likely reasons why you continued to drink or use drugs at home, and only 30 days away from that environment is not a long time.

If you stay in our transitional home, you will remain embedded within the sober community we’ve established; it’s within the same relative area as our residential and outpatient facilities. We also keep the costs of transitional living very affordable, so the expense shouldn’t dissuade you from living here rather than moving back home.

There are three levels of outpatient treatment at Harmony Place:

  • Partial hospitalization program (PHP)
  • Intensive outpatient program (IOP)
  • Outpatient program (OP)

Some clients progress through all three levels, while others are assigned to, and remain in, just one. It all depends on the individualized treatment plan.

Per the treatment plan, clients will receive a number of the following outpatient services:

  • Individual therapy
    • Twice-a-week meetings with a dedicated therapist
  • Psychotherapy groups
    • Clinical topics
  • Psychoeducation groups
    • Addiction issues
    • Co-occurring disorders education
  • Career counseling
    • Train for and explore employment opportunities
  • Holistic group sessions
    • Mindful meditation
    • Energy healing
    • Creative art expression
    • Yoga
  • Experiential groups
    • Beach walks
    • Social outings
    • Equine-assisted therapy
