Structured Transitional Living in a Recovery Home
The life of an addict can be treacherous. Personal needs, health and safety get set aside in pursuit of the next “high.”
It is imperative to alter the trajectory of addictive compulsions. One way is to “live” or “behave” in a healthy rhythm to become accustomed to living sober. When living sober feels more natural, staying sober becomes attainable.
Proper accommodation and care are necessary to reset one’s internal clock. Often, the environments where someone lived during their active addiction become imprinted, along with the addiction, in the brain. Returning to one’s previous living arrangements following residential treatment is often a set-up for relapse. Merely returning to an environment associated to addictive use can activate compulsions and craving. The newly sober individual is rarely prepared for all of the associated stressors that could activate urges, cravings and behaviors that lead to relapse.
Located just minutes away from our residential facility, the Harmony Place sober living home is comfortably nestled in a quiet neighborhood in Los Angeles & Woodland Hills, California. This spacious, private location lends itself to idyllic sanctuary, relieving concerns for personal comfort so individuals can focus on their goals in outpatient treatment and prepare to return to their families and communities as productive, sober members.
The Value of Structured Transitional Living Home Los Angeles
While residential treatment offers the beginning to your journey to wellness, and extended outpatient treatment provides the foundation for building confidence and self-esteem, transitional living is a place where clients practice the art of living with less restriction.
This is a setting in which the client can actively use the relapse prevention strategies that they have learned, discussed and adopted as their own. It is a critical precursor to long-term recovery.
Practicing relapse prevention strategies and experiencing even tiny successes lead to hope, and that hope is a strong motivator for continued compliance. Success in recovery restores the human dignity that was once lost in the throes of addiction.
Individuals who complete our 30-day residential program have the option to extend their time in treatment by staying in the same area and transitioning to outpatient care. They can live in our opulent transitional home during this time, which allows them to continue to focus on their recovery in a less clinically intensive setting.
This large residence is reserved for clients who have successfully completed a residential treatment program and exhibited motivation to change, compliance with treatment, and a genuine desire to live a sober and productive life.
