At Harmony Place, we want to help make a recovery as seamless as possible for our clients and their loved ones. It can be challenging to know what kind of rehabilitation care is needed, whether it be full residential inpatient care, outpatient care, a partial hospitalization program, or something in between. An intensive outpatient program serves many functions during the rehabilitation process and can help patients seek treatment while acclimating back to everyday life. Learn about the San Diego intensive outpatient program at Harmony Place.
For many, an intensive outpatient program near San Diego provides the ideal level of care on the journey to sobriety.

What is an Intensive Outpatient Program?
Intensive outpatient programs generally occur 3-5 times per week, for several hours per day, which is a step up from outpatient care, and often occur after a patient has completed inpatient treatment. During inpatient care, clients go through the detox process and work through the most sensitive phases of recovery. Once they complete that stage with 24/7 care, they move on to our intensive outpatient program where they continue intense care, but they do not sleep at the rehabilitation center.
In these cases, our comprehensive, intensive outpatient programs are designed to help those with the most severe addictions graduate to the next phase of care. In other cases, clients don’t always need the inpatient phase. Those situations occur when individuals recognize the damaging effects of their addiction before it reaches a stage where detoxification and residential care are necessary. Our intensive outpatient program, designed by experienced medical personnel, serves as a standalone treatment option. Our team of experts is ready to help you or your loved one determine the best course of action.

What to Expect: Intensive Outpatient Treatment Near San Diego
For individuals who can return home each night to a clean, sober, and supportive environment, outpatient programs are effective since a supportive home environment can help mitigate triggers. Here is what to expect from our intensive outpatient program near San Diego:
Mental Health Treatment
Our intensive outpatient program is designed to address all concerns of the mind, body, and spirit when combating addiction. Mental health treatment is a crucial part of recovery and one we do not take lightly. Many emotional and psychological disorders arise leading up to and as a result of addiction, and we are committed to addressing all mental health disorders fully during the treatment process.
Traditional methods such as talk therapy, group therapy sessions, family therapy, and dual diagnosis treatment are all core practices at our treatment center. However, mental health conditions extend far beyond that, and we believe healing the body and spirit are critical to healing the mind.
We offer several holistic approaches to mental health treatment, including equine-assisted therapy, yoga, beach walks, and more. Our psychiatric intensive outpatient programs are designed to go far beyond talk therapy and take a full-scale approach to recovery. We believe that various treatment modalities can work together to fully heal our patients suffering from addiction.
After Outpatient Care
Our team works extensively on treatment planning for every client to ensure long-term success. While outpatient care is technically the last step in our rehabilitation program, we offer a wide range of aftercare services and alumni activities to keep our clients engaged in their sobriety long term. We want to ensure all of our clients leave treatment with a fresh outlook on life and various coping skills to prevent relapse.
Graduates of our residential and outpatient programs are always invited to participate in our alumni program, which offers group therapy and recreational activities to engage with other individuals who have sought treatment at Harmony Place. Our alumni program is proven to lead to long-lasting recovery and improved mental health. Beyond that, it is always offered at no cost.
