What To Expect with Clinical Care For Rehab

Clinical care for rehab is crucial for a successful, long-term recovery. At Harmony Place, we offer the best clinical care and take a holistic approach to recovery. Our team of treatment professionals is here to help our clients in all areas of life impacted by addiction.

At our Los Angeles treatment center, we know our clients want and deserve the best. That is why we hire highly-trained professionals to work in all of our programs. With clinical support and expertise, our clients get the support they need to live the life they deserve.

What is Clinical Care for Rehab?

During clinical care for rehab, clients get help for all aspects of their health and well-being. This can include detox programs with medical professionals. It can also include psychotherapy to address mental health symptoms. In addition, other clinical professionals, like nutritionists and holistic health practitioners, can be a part of our client’s treatment team.

In other words, clinical care involves high-trained specialists to help with all symptoms and issues related to substance misuse. While in clinical care, clients learn how to live a healthy and fulfilling life. However, one of the primary areas of focus during clinical care is addressing co-occurring mental health disorders.

Why Do Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders Co-Occur?

According to the 2021 National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH), 7.6% (19.4 million people) had co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders, also known as dual diagnoses. Due to the prevalence of dual diagnoses, clinical care for rehab includes mental health professionals in the treatment process.

Substance use and mental health disorders often co-occur for a few reasons, including the following:

  • Misusing drugs or alcohol to self-medicate for a mental health disorder.
  • Substances alter the way the brain functions, which might cause mental health symptoms.
  • The negative consequences of substance misuse, like job loss or broken relationships, could lead to disorders like depression.
  • Both disorders have similar root causes, such as traumatic experiences or family members with 1 or both disorders.

Effects on Other Areas of Health and Wellness

Furthermore, people with one or both of these disorders often have issues with other aspects of their health and wellness. Some mental health disorders, like depression or anxiety, disrupt a person’s appetite. This can lead to nutritional deficiencies.

On the other hand, substance misuse often replaces healthy activities that contribute to a person’s well-being. A person might not engage in meaningful activities or hobbies, for example. That is why clinical care for rehab also considers holistic approaches to recovery. This will lead to the best outcomes for a successful long-term recovery.

What Programs Are Available in Clinical Care?

At Harmony Place, we offer clinical care for rehab in many of our programs. Our clinical team uses evidence-based treatment to best serve our clients in the Los Angeles area.

We offer clinical care in the following programs:

Detox and Residential Rehab

Detox is the first step to recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. It is also the first step to dual diagnosis treatment, as a person must be sober before mental health treatment can be effective. Following detox, many clients move on to residential rehab to maintain sobriety, learn about triggers, and gain the skills needed to heal from addiction.

Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) could also be a part of a detox program. Clients with opioid and alcohol use disorders can use FDA-approved prescription drugs to manage severe withdrawal symptoms.

Relapse Prevention

During clinical care for rehab in Los Angeles, we believe relapse prevention begins after detox. That way, our clients learn the skills necessary to manage their triggers, urges, and cravings right away. This program also includes learning coping skills to manage daily stressors.

Sober Living Programs

Sober living programs are a great way to transition from residential treatment to everyday life. By living in a sober home, our clients get the accountability and support they need to stay sober in the early stages of recovery. In addition, clients can live in our program while participating in outpatient treatment.

Outpatient Programs

Outpatient programs vary in terms of intensity. We offer three levels of care in our outpatient programs. Most clients go from one level to the next throughout their treatment program.

From most intensive to least, we offer the following outpatient programs:

Aftercare and Alumni Programs

Aftercare and alumni programs foster a sense of community in recovery. Our clients feel less alone in their recovery as a result of participating in our programs. We offer social activities with peers as well as mentor group sessions in our aftercare programs.

Family Program

Clinical care for rehab also includes the family of those in treatment. Our clinicians can help family members navigate the challenges of watching a loved one struggle. We also teach family members the skills they need to support their loved one’s recovery.
