Available Options for Crystal Meth Rehab in Los Angeles, CA

At Harmony Place, we understand the profound challenges faced by individuals battling meth addiction. Our crystal meth addiction treatment center in Los Angeles is dedicated to providing a compassionate, supportive, and empowering environment for recovery. Through our comprehensive approach, we address the unique needs of each individual, helping them achieve lasting sobriety and a renewed sense of well-being.

Levels of treatment for meth addiction may include:

Detox

Crystal Meth Detox Center

For many people, the beginning of recovery is the completion of a medically-assisted detox program. The idea of detox scares many people away from treatment. A medically-assisted detox program helps people who are struggling with meth addiction to complete the detox process as comfortably, quickly, and safely as possible.

Detoxification is a crucial first step in overcoming meth addiction. Our crystal meth detox center in Los Angeles offers a safe and medically supervised environment for individuals to begin their recovery journey. The process of meth detox in Los Angeles involves managing withdrawal symptoms and stabilizing the individual’s health, allowing them to proceed with further treatment more comfortably and effectively.

In our Los Angeles detox facility, experienced medical professionals provide round-the-clock care, ensuring that patients receive the necessary support during this challenging phase. We prioritize the safety and comfort of our clients, using evidence-based practices to mitigate withdrawal symptoms and promote physical stabilization. This initial step sets the foundation for successful long-term recovery from meth addiction.

Inpatient Treatment

Residential Inpatient Meth Addiction Treatment

During inpatient treatment, patients have access to around-the-clock care. It can be hard to go through the recovery process while dealing with the stresses and pressures of everyday life. Inpatient treatment offers a respite from family and relationship issues that can make it hard to get and stay clean.

During inpatient treatment, people who are beginning their recovery have the opportunity to get to know others who are at the same phase in their sobriety. This can provide a safe network of support that can complement other aspects of the treatment process.

Our residential meth addiction treatment in Los Angeles includes individualized therapy sessions, group counseling, and integrated wellness activities designed to address the multifaceted nature of addiction. By providing a stable and nurturing environment, we help clients develop the skills and resilience needed to maintain sobriety after leaving the facility. This comprehensive approach ensures that each person receives the attention and care they need to thrive in their recovery journey.

Outpatient Treatment

Outpatient Meth Addiction Treatment

Some people arent able to get away from work and family responsibilities to get meth addiction treatment. No matter how busy or stressful life may be, its still important to get treatment to enter recovery.

Intensive outpatient programs and partial hospitalization programs can provide patients with many of the same aspects of treatment as residential programs, but on an outpatient basis. During these types of outpatient programs, patients spend a significant amount of time at the facility during the day but are still able to attend to work and family responsibilities.

In our outpatient meth addiction treatment program, clients attend scheduled therapy sessions, support groups, and medical check-ups. This allows them to apply the coping strategies they learn in real-time while still receiving professional guidance and support. Our outpatient meth rehab in Los Angeles ensures that clients remain connected to their recovery community, fostering a network of support that extends beyond the treatment period.

Meth Addiction Counseling and Therapy

Crystal Meth Addiction Counseling and Therapy

Counseling and therapy are integral components of effective meth addiction treatment. At Harmony Place, we offer personalized counseling and therapy services to address the psychological aspects of addiction. Through individual and group sessions, clients gain insights into the root causes of their substance use and develop healthier coping mechanisms.

Our therapists utilize evidence-based approaches such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) to help clients navigate the complexities of meth addiction recovery. Group therapy sessions provide a supportive space for individuals to share their experiences and learn from others facing similar challenges. This combination of individual and group counseling fosters a deeper understanding of one’s addiction and promotes sustainable recovery.

Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) for Meth Recovery

Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) for Meth Recovery

Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) is an innovative approach that combines FDA-approved medications with counseling and behavioral therapies. At Harmony Place, our MAT program in Los Angeles is designed to help manage cravings and reduce the risk of relapse, providing a comprehensive framework for recovery.

There isnt currently an effective medication-assisted treatment protocol for people who suffer from meth addiction, but some doctors prescribe anti-anxiety medications (such as benzodiazepines) to help people who are struggling with agitation or panic as they adjust to a life in recovery.

By integrating MAT into our meth recovery program in Los Angeles, we enhance the effectiveness of traditional therapeutic methods. Medications used in MAT can stabilize brain chemistry and alleviate some of the most challenging aspects of meth withdrawal. When combined with ongoing therapy and support, MAT offers a robust pathway to sustained recovery. Our dedicated team ensures that each client receives a personalized MAT plan tailored to their specific needs, promoting long-term success in overcoming meth addiction.

Aftercare

After the completion of an inpatient or outpatient rehab program, patients must have an aftercare plan in place to help them lower the chance of relapse. Aftercare plans may include living in a sober living facility, attending 12-step meetings, going to behavioral therapy, using stress management techniques, and more.

Recovery is a lifelong process, and people who are dealing with meth addiction must continue to work the steps of their recovery to maintain their sobriety. While relapse is common, it doesnt have to be a part of the recovery process, especially with a comprehensive aftercare plan in place.

Understanding Meth Addiction

Meth Addiction: The Basics

Methamphetamine is classified as a Schedule II drug by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency. The drug is available in a legal prescription form to treat ADHD and obesity. Typically, methamphetamine is prescribed at a much lower dose than that which is used to create a high.

To understand how meth works, it is key to understand the role that dopamine plays in the brain. This neurotransmitter provides the brain with a sense of accomplishment for a job well done. Social connections, sex, affection, love, good food, and exercise are all-natural ways to boost the dopamine output of the brain.

When a person uses meth, the brain releases an abnormal amount of dopamine. Since the brain can’t release the same amount of dopamine naturally, many users find themselves constantly thinking about using meth, since they are not able to recreate the same level of good feelings in any other way.

Meth does not just act by allowing the brain to release dopamine – over time, it also destroys the brain’s dopamine receptors, making it impossible for people who use meth to experience pleasure through other means. Many people who use meth find that over time, their work/school performance diminishes, their relationships become troubled, and they find themselves in extreme financial duress.

Meth comes as a pill or powder and may be altered into crystals (known as crystal meth) for illegal use. Crystal meth looks like small shards of glass and is created by altering the prescription form of the drug by cooking it with over-the-counter drugs.

Common street names for methamphetamine include:

  • Trash
  • Stove Top
  • Tweak
  • Shards
  • Ice
  • Bikers Coffee
  • Meth
  • Speed
  • Shabu
  • Crank
  • Chalk

There are several ways that users consume crystal meth. Meth can be taken as a powder or a pill, or it may be injected, snorted, or smoked. Some users may vary the way that they take meth to intensify the drug’s effects.

How Does Meth Affect The Mind and Body?

Many people who try crystal meth become addicted after the first use. Each time they begin to come down from the high, they may seek out more of the drug, before eventually falling asleep/crashing.

Immediate effects of meth may include:

  • Extreme energy
  • A false sense of well-being
  • Insomnia and hyperactivity
  • Hallucinations and delusions of power
  • Anxiety, aggressiveness, and irritability
  • Paranoia
  • Lack of appetite and nausea
  • Hyperactivity
How to Know If Someone Is Addicted to Meth

What Are The Physical Signs and Symptoms of Addiction to Methamphetamine?

While the mental and psychological effects of meth addiction are intense, the drug also affects the body in several ways.

Short-term physical effects of methamphetamine use include:

  • Sleep deprivation

  • Dehydration
  • Elevated body temperature
  • Skin infections/ abscesses
  • Decreased libido

Long-term physical effects of methamphetamine include:

  • Liver, lung, and kidney damage
  • Respiratory problems (for people who smoke meth)
  • Severe tooth decay
  • Weight loss/ malnutrition
  • Osteoporosis
  • Damage to the heart and brain
  • High blood pressure/ heart attacks
  • Stroke
  • Death

Not everyone experiences addiction in the same way, and while some people experience many of these effects, some will only experience a few. The number of physical and psychological effects experienced does not necessarily indicate the degree to which a person is addicted to a drug. Meth rehab admissions in Los Angeles through Harmony Place can give you the tools necessary to overcome dependency once and for all.

Chasing the Dragon: Why Meth Is So Hard To Quit

Meth addiction sets in fast. As stated, many people are hooked after the first time they try the drug. During the first time using meth, many people find that they feel a sense of euphoria and hyperactivity for up to 12 hours. While they feel great, their brain is changing from minute to minute. During the first use of meth, the brains reward pathways change quickly.

Healthy activities that release dopamine leave the brain with memories, much like a fingerprint left behind after someone has spent time in a room. Drugs like methamphetamine figuratively crush the brain’s reward systems. Research has shown that the dopamine produced by the brain after a hit of meth up to 1,250 times the amount of dopamine produced by the brain during sex.

A user’s first experience with meth is always the most intense. Many users spend the rest of their lives chasing the dragon. This term refers to the relentless pursuit of the same sensation experienced during the first use. It is impossible to recreate the initial flood of dopamine experienced at the start of meth use, and sadly, many people die trying.

    • Absolutely the best recovery center around.

I am forever grateful to have had this experience. I would recommend anyone who wanted help to come here. This place literally saved my life. I have overcome so many obstacles that always stood in the way of my recovery. It’s not just because I was ready… the approaches the therapists use come from an empathetic, compassionate, and understanding place. They were able to hold the mirror up and help guide me through making solid changes.

    • This place literally saved my life.

After overdosing, my parents forced me to check into rehab. After interviewing many other facilities, I decided to go to Harmony Place from my home in Phoenix. I was struggling with…a drug addiction and had been trying for years to recover. In the past, left 2 treatment centers AMA and 1 AWOL. I had very negative experiences in the other treatment facilities, especially with my therapists, so I didn’t go in with an open mind or good attitude- even though they worked with my parents regarding finances. However, the staff was patient with me. The techs were kind, knowledgeable, and many were in recovery themselves.

    • They Answered on the First Call

When I called Harmony Place…I knew immediately that this was the right place for my child… Harmony Place is specifically designed for…and tailored to providing a safe environment. The staff [are knowledgeable and some are in recovery]. The staff knew each client and were on top of each client’s progress. Harmony Place has a small clientele and each client are able to receive all the help they were entitled to. I would recommend Harmony Place to anyone who is looking for a small setting… My daughter is currently going into sober living and her counselors did a wonderful job in finding a right fit for her – affordable, safe and a good environment for her.

    • I’ve Been Searching for the Perfect Words…

I left Harmony Place in August of 2015 and I have been searching for the perfect words to describe my experience during my stay; and still I can’t really find them. How do you really describe a place with a staff and a program that saved you? Addiction is a terrible thing to go through and a heart breaking thing for your loved ones to watch. Many people, including myself go into different treatment centers throughout their addiction searching for ways to find recovery. Nothing worked for me, not the 5 rehab stays I had, then, I came here.

Psychosis and Anhedonia: The Scary Side of Meth Addiction

People who suffer from anhedonia struggle or are unable to experience pleasure. Activities that the brain once perceived as pleasurable no longer register in the same way. Meth addiction can cause anhedonia due to its effect on the brain’s dopamine receptors and may cause additional similar issues such as hopelessness, fatigue, and loneliness. Anhedonia is a key factor in relapse for many people who suffer from meth addiction. A recovery plan with a strong social support network can be helpful for people who suffer from this condition as a result of addiction.

Research has shown that many people who are working to get off meth experience psychosis as a part of their meth withdrawal. While these symptoms passed within about a week), this time can be difficult for people who are suffering from meth addiction to get through without professional and social support.

I’ve been to 4 treatment centers before Harmony Place, and I can tell you without a single doubt that this is the absolute best by FAR. The past ones were luxury Residential Treatment centers that just treated every single client the same not tailoring to each individual, and were basically just in it for the money, dropping the ball each time. I can also tell you that I’ve never met the CEOs, but here, David comes to the facility almost every single day, and makes sure he get to know every individual here. He is incredibly kind, and was even willing to transfer me to another facility with a higher level of trauma therapy due to me having a lifetime of trauma and PTSD that just is going to take a long time to tackle. He truly cares about all of the clients having all of the tools that we need before getting released to the real world. No more of other CEO would ever be willing to miss an opportunity at making more money and even paired with my IMPECCABLE case manager to find a different facility that was more trauma based. My case manager, Sam, goes absolutely above and beyond in every single aspect. She makes sure you have a smooth transition into aftercare, provides out of this world advice when it comes to sobriety, and takes the time out of her day to make sure that FMLA and short-term disability are completely taken care of during your stay. I’ve never met a case manager that could ever compare to Sam. Ever. I feel lucky to have met her, genuinely. Marissa, my therapist, is SO SWEET, actually listens to you, and provides advice and therapy tailored to each individual’s experience. She’s handled every mood I’ve been in, never judged me, and allowed me to feel safe enough to tell her things I’ve never told any person or therapist in my 29 years of life. I’ve been going to therapy for the past 15 years, and none of those therapists even come close to how amazing she is. I’ve been to 4 other treatment centers in my life and none even come close to Harmony Place. The facility is clean, organized, and high-end. I would recommend Harmony place to my family, friends, and anyone seeking treatment. I feel SO BLESSED to have landed in their hands. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE IN THE CLINICAL STAFF BEYOND WORDS. I love you guys ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️. I feel more confident than ever in my Recovery.

Where to begin.. Harmony is a place that will forever be a part of my story as the first step in my recovery journey. I’m so grateful for this program. The staff is very friendly, and many of them understand what addiction is like, for they themselves have recovery stories of their own. They have an awesome team of therapists, group facilitators, nurses, RA technicians, medical and health professionals, a wonderful case manager for aftercare that cares deeply for your next steps; making sure you are set up for success. They have a wonderful admissions team (shoutout to Marielle who was so kind and understanding of my messed up situation). Everyone is very relatable and friendly. They invest heavily in the importance of diet and nutrition too - there’s a full time professional chef. I gained all the weight I lost and wanted back in the first two weeks lol. On top of the intensive programming they do throughout the day, they take us out to experience various kinds of outside groups to get a taste of the real world, and also take us on social outings during the weekend. If you’re serious about getting better this place will meet you where you’re at and prepare you to launch with a renewed mind and heart.

I can't begin to explain just how amazing Harmony Place is. In fact, when we sit down with the owner, Jeff, and clinical director, David, on Monday mornings to have a house meeting, they ask us what they could be doing better. A bigger blender for smoothies is the ONLY thing we could come up with. Let me begin by addressing some negative reviews. If you notice many of them are from people, or are referring to people who have been asked to leave. It is because of harmony places protection of their clients that provide ideal conditions for healing and progress. There is a screening process that it is implemented where they make sure the clients they admit are ready to start a life of sobriety. Some people slip through the cracks. Some people find out a few days or weeks in that they've changed their minds. Some are inappropriate and break rules. It happens. When Harmony Place ask people to leave, It's because they are protecting the people who are here that want treatment. In effect, they're providing exactly what I needed for a genuine start to recovery. When I began my search for a treatment center, my requirements were that the facility's provide an environment in which its residents all want to be there and that it is ethically ran. I got that and so much more at Harmony Place. As well as a structured routine, they also provide a confidential and nurturing environment where one feels safe and where profound healing can begin. Their program offers a sound foundation where further progress in sober living is almost guaranteed. In group meetings, we enjoy getting to know ourselves again and with deeper understanding about why we are the way we are. We are provided with skills to handle real life. Its here that I've come to understand that its not addiction that has driven me to make a mess of my life. It is the trauma that I endured and not processing it correctly that lead to poor thinking patterns that opened the door to addiction resulting in poor life management. So we start at the bottom. Trauma. They help us understand that trauma has led to our own toxicity, what that trauma looks like and how to get out of our own way. Process groups help us learn how to take accountability and foster healthier relationships. I learned here that changing the way I think is absolutely possible and imperative to the healing process. Harmony Place offered me hope when I previously felt I was unfixable and a support team that truly loves me. Even after I leave here, I have contacts that almost demand I keep in touch and an alumni meeting where I can return to the facility on Thursday nights. I wasn't a 12 stepper when I came here but my first experience with it was not one where I was ready to stop using. I understand now that the steps will work for me. It's certainly is not the only modality that they teach. In one group, we are provided an opportunity to sit with a recently retired medical doctor to just ask questions. Another is with a nutritionist. There are a handful of people IN recovery that come to lead groups that are all accredited highly specialized where I felt understood and not judged. The knowledge I have gained here is life changing. It is also versatile and relatable for all types of people. my favorite group was dialectical behavioral therapy. There are breathing classes and sound bath groups and I started doing yoga in the morning. There's a dharma meeting they take you offsite that focuses on Buddhist values. A fantastic onsight chef provides three meals and you can have special requests. We facilitated our own Movie nights during free time. I cant forget to mention you get your own one on one meetings with your assigned primary therapist and there is comprehensive medical support complete with 24/7 nurses and a doctor that shows up throughout the week. If this is what you need to recover and you have mediCAL, cancel your mediCAL and get insurance Harmony Place accepts if you can. There are people to help you with that as well. Just call. Many, many thanks to the staff. ✔️Another life changed.🙏
